Alkmonton Tractors was founded in 1984 by John's father, Jim who bought the land the present site sits on in the late 1960s. The company has gained a reputation throughout the area for its ability to service, repair and supply parts for virtually any type of tractor of any age. It also sells and services new and used farm machinery, as well as other vehicles including 4x4s. Alkmonton are also Mengele specialists, and grass and slurry equipment can also be supplied and repaired. Alkmonton have a vast range of spares and hydraulic hoses and fittings. It is also a stockist for VAP parts, Chilton Loaders, Reco products and spares. A long standing motto of his is 'if liquid runs through it we can either mend it or replace it'
In April 2008, as local service stations closed down, Alkmonton made extensive alterations to the premises and, with the approval of VOSA, John and Andrew became official MOT testers.
The company has remained a family-run business with John in charge of sales, Andrew who deals with the parts side of the business and front counter, and the four mechanics in the workshop. John's wife, too, plays her part running the office and even his Mum still has an input in the firm. As time goes on there are plans to expand the business further. As John added "We can work wonders but miracles take a little longer."
We now run a fleet of 5 fully equipped service vans and have full electronic and hydraulic diagnostic test equipment available for all the range of McCormick tractors. Two of our service technicians are fully trained on the full range of McCormick tractors and undergo regular product training every year. We are confident we can handle every problem that may arise from an oil leak to a gearbox overall quickly and efficiently whilst keeping down time to a minimum. All of our technicians are always on call to enable fast out of hours service throughout our area.
In September 2010 work commenced on a new 40ft x 80ft workshop extension which was needed for the increase in work we have had. It will also enable the shop to be extended out into the existing workshop to enable us to show and stock more products. Once completed hopefully by early spring 2011 Alkmonton tractors will be bigger and better than ever ! |
